Color Surface Space And Place Through The Landscapes Of My Mind
Looking At It My Way Landscapes Of My Mind are deep memories first formed whilst as a young child living in the English countryside and more recently from living for long periods of time in other countries such as America, Japan, Germany, Mexico and most recently Austria.
First in the Landscape Of My Mind are the memories of long walks with my parents through forests listening to the sound of birds, the crackle of dry twigs underfoot, the smell of pine, wet earth, ferns and grass after rain. Memories of flickering and sometimes dazzling light of the sun breaking through towering branches creating mysterious and haunting shadows whilst all the time the creatures and Goblins from the stories by author Enid Blyton fed my imagination helping to create a curiosity between total fear and joy at the possibility of meeting up with one of Enid Blyton’s creatures hiding in the woods where all the trees had eyes and would talk with a whisper in the wind
Beauty And The Beast Traveling With Brutus
Challenging the conventional perceptions of landscapes whilst transforming them into a vivid tapestry that speaks to the complexities of our existence and environmental concerns I have come to liken to Beauty And The Beast Traveling With Brutus. Beauty And The Beast Traveling With Brutus encapsulates the journey of humanity grappling with its own contradictions. Beauty represents the natural world full of life and color whilst the Beast symbolizes the destructive forces of industrialization and environmental neglect. Brutus, a name steeped in historical significance adds a layer of complexity, suggesting betrayal and the consequences of our choices.
Bold saturated colors and dynamic compositions reveal an energetic dialogue between the concept and elements within the work. The importance of this approach is to capture the essence of the landscapes and transform them into symbols of a deeper emotional experience. Memory and time form important elements as each work serves as a visual narrative that looks both forward and back intertwining personal history with universal themes. This interplay between beauty and fragility is central to my vision, encouraging a contemplation of our relationship with the environment and landscape.
